Small Field Big Bets on the Arkle Trophy at Cheltenham 2018

It has of course been a year in the making, and tomorrow on the 13th of March 2018 we will see the festival of horse racing that is the Cheltenham Festival kicking off in its own unique style.

The Cheltenham Festival is of course one of those events that is pencilled into every single avid fan of horse racings diary, and the racecourse will be heaving to the seams so to speak with many punters, a huge percentage of whom are having their annual pilgrimage over from Ireland.

Whilst there are plenty of races that do take huge volumes of bets, the Arkle Trophy is a race in which this year there are only five runners involved in it.

The betting markets to give a very clear indication of the horse that is likely to pass the winning post in first place in the Arkle Trophy and that honour this year goes to the 5/4 favourite Footpad.

However, the other runners and riders are not taking part in that race for the good of their health, and each of them will be hoping they can beat that favourite.

The horse that may give Footpad most to worry about is the second favourite, that being Petit Mouchoir and if you do fancy its chances then now may be the time to lump on at odds of 11/4.

The other horses scheduled to line up tomorrow in the Arkle Trophy are Saint Calvados who is the joint second favourite at odds of 11/4, and Brain Power at 10/1, but Robinshill will also take part in this race but may not have what it takes to win at odds of 66/1.

Will an Outsider Win the Supreme Novices Hurdle?

The favourite to win the Supreme Novices Hurdle tomorrow is of course Getabird at odds of 13/8, however you may be thinking about that race as one you will be betting on and if like me you may have a suspicion it is going to be one of the outsiders that will win it.

The second favourite to be honest doesn’t look that strong that being Kalashnikov at odds of 4/1 and as such you may be tempted to look at some of the other runners in that race such as Summerville Boy at odds of 9/1, Mengli Khan at odds of 10/1 or even First Flow who is also on offer at most betting sites at odds of 10/1.

However, with both Claimantakinforgan and Paloma Blue in with a chance both at odds of 12/1 and Sharjah who may just get up to the line in first place at odds of 16/1 there is certainly plenty of value to be had on that race if you take the top two in the betting markets out of the equation.

The other runners who you may find are worth taking a chance on are Slate House at odds of 25/1, Simply the Betts, Western Ryder and Us and Them at odds of 33/1. The other runners I doubt will have any chance of troubling those horses already mentioned!

The Ultima Handicap Chase is a Puzzling Race

I would also consider feasting your eyes over the form of all the runners in the Ultima Handicap Chase race that is up and running tomorrow at Cheltenham if all goes to place as 14:50, for there is plenty of value to be had, especially if you do get your bets and wagers placed nice and early!

The favourite is Coo Star Sivola at odds of 5/1, so you favourite backers will be smiling and will certainly get some healthy sized returns if that horse does win, and the joint second favourite to win are Gold Present and Singlefarmpayment at odds of 7/1.

In fact, if you are prepared to take something of a punt on Vintage Clouds at odds of 10/1, the rewards are there for the taking surely and it may also be worth having an each way bet on Beware The Bear or Ramses De Teillee who can both be had at odds of 12/1.

Consider having a bet on Yala Enki at odds of 14/1 or O O Seven at odds of 14/1 or even Shantou Flyer, Wakanda, Vicente or Minella Daddy at odds of 16/1, for there is also plenty of each way value to be had right now with any of those runners. It is 20/1 the field for the other runners, not of whom do catch the eye!
