You have probably had the dates June 14th through to the 17th of June 2018 pencilled into your diary if you are a fan of golf for quite some time now, for those are the dates of course when the US Open 2018 tournament is going to be in full flow over at the Shinnecock Hills golf course in New York.
What makes this year’s event very interesting from a betting point of view is that there are a number of bookmakers who are going one fifth the odds on each way bets up to ten places, and as such there is a fair and very reasonable chance that you could pick a golfer to get placed and will pick up some winners from such a bet.
However, you will of course first need to pick out the golfers that are likely to either win this tournament or get placed, and with that in mind I shall now be taking a look at those golfers in the US Open that do have the form and skill needed to win this major event.
Most Likely Winner of the US Open
One golfer who is currently the firm and solid favourite for a lot of punters is of course the highly skilled and quite likeable Dustin Johnson who has been attracting a lot of money on the betting markets already, so much so his odds are 15/2 to win this event.
There is however one golfer that is always high up on betting markets no matter which golf tournament he is entering into and that is Rory McIlroy, and if you do fancy betting on him you should quite easily get odds on him winning of 12/1.
Another golfer that many punters do think has one of the best chances for quite some time of winning the US Open golf tournament this year is Justin Thomas, and with his odds of winning currently being 12/1 perhaps a small investment could be the order of the day!
Jason Day does has some excellent form recently and I can see no reason why he could not win this event, and with his odds currently being 14/1 to win this event I am more than confident a large number of punters will be betting on him to win it.
Best Golfers for Each-Way Value
If you are interested in betting on any golfer via an each-way bet, with the odds being one fifth the win odds on the place part of such a bet, then you should be looking to place a bet on those with high enough odds to make sure a bet worthwhile.
Therefore it may be worth taking a chance of golfers such as Henrik Stenson who is currently available at odds of 28/1 at many betting sites or possibly take a chance that Branden Grace who is currently 30/1 is going to play up to his very best form during this tournament.
Phil Mickelson is on offer at odds of 30/1 and never underestimate the chances of golfers such as Tommy Fleetwood at events like this for he is certainly a highly skill golfer and one that could win this event or at the very least get placed, and his odds of doing so are currently around the 33/1 mark.
